We particularly like the Nautilus Prime because it enables the user to achieve a customized vaping experience and great flavor without having to be vaping expert.
Most plug 'n' play e-cig kits come with the advantage of enabling a vaping newbie to get up and running in a couple of minutes. However, the downside is that these simplified models remove the customization options that enable the user to fine tune the vaping experience, tailoring it to personal preference. The difference customization can make can be huge and can make or break your vaping experience.
In the past, to master the skills needed to play with variable wattage and voltage, it usually required some serious research and experience or you could wind up burning your coils or, worse, causing your e-cig to overheat by incorrectly pairing wattage, ohms or voltage.
That is, until now. This model has built in safety features so even a complete newbie can confidently play with wattage to increase or decrease temperature and flavor without having to worry about accidentally straying outside of safe vaping parameters.

The body of the unit contains a hefty 2000 mAh battery. The battery can be recharged quite quickly using the USB to USB-C charging cord and we like the fact that you can vape even when this e-cig is plugged in and charging.
The vape juice tank holds 3.4 mL of e juice. That's on the smaller side compared to some models but it's plenty to keep you going for a couple hours or so, depending on how heavily you vape. The unit is relatively easy to fill and changing out the coils is simple and intuitive.
The Nautilus Prime also features a 0.69 inch OLED screen. The screen is backlit so you can literally read it in the pitch dark, which really is a nice feature if you ever vape in the middle of the night.

We like the fact that you can adjust your wattage in 0.1 watt increments as this allows you to really fine tune your vaping experience.
The e-cig has a 5-click safety feature that enables you to turn the unit on or off. This feature prevents the e-cig from being accidentally activated when it is stored in a purse or pocket. If you try to vape when the unit is switched off, the OLED screen will read "Locked" to remind you that you need to turn it back on. To turn the unit on or off, just click the large silver "fire" button five times within a few seconds.
You can also lock the wattage buttons so that, once you find the wattage that you prefer, the setting is locked and only the fire button will work. You can also turn off the screen with the click of a few buttons if you want to save battery life or just don't like the display lighting up when you take a vape.
The Aspire Nautilus Prime comes with a factory setting of "Auto" mode. The controls are automatically set, limiting wattage and to manufacturer suggested safe vaping ranges. However, if you are an experienced user, you can set the unit to operate in "Manual" mode. This will allow you to control wattage outside of factory suggested ranges. This mode enables more advanced vapers to get even more out of this model, however, unless you know what you are doing and understand wattage, coil ratings and safe vaping parameters, we recommend that all users leave the unit in auto mode.

If the e-cig starts to overheat, the unit will stop working for a couple of minutes and the screen will let you know that the unit was getting too hot. It doesn't take long to cool down and will resume normal operation as soon as it is safe to do so.

Along with the overheat protection, the unit has built in safety features to protect your battery and to ensure the unit remains safe to operate. For example, the unit will shut down charging once the battery is fully charged, which both protects the battery life and also prevents overheating and damage.

No electronic cigarette is perfect and every model presents some drawbacks or trade offs. Happily, we found no major design flaws with this model. During our testing, we experienced absolutely no spit back, leaking of juice into the mouth, leaking of the unit or burnt coils.
That said, we did have a few small complaints.
The biggest issue we found is that, although the pyrex glass windows showing the vape juice level in the e-liquid tank are large, the tinted glass makes it difficult to see in low light. Running dry when vaping is a sure fire way to burn your coil so we would prefer it was easier to keep an eye on our e-juice level. We found that if you hold the unit up to the nearest bright light it makes it easier to see into the tank and get a read.
We also noticed that the model has a tendency to default to the highest wattage when the e-juice pod is removed and refilled. When the pod is reinserted, the wattage jumps to the highest default setting and it is easy to forget to check and dial the wattage back down to your preferred level. It doesn't happen every time but it can take you by surprise when it does.
That said, the built in safety features did a good job of limiting wattage to automatically prevent vaping out of the range the coil can handle so we never got a burnt coil. We just noticed after a few puffs that the vapor seemed much hotter than it had been before the refill which caused us to check the OLED readout and notice that the wattage had reset. However, a few clicks of a button and the problem was fixed. Moreover, you can just lock the wattage control buttons once you find your preferred wattage so this is really a pretty minor issue.
Lastly, and this is a small thing, the drip tip is built into the pod so it cannot be replaced. While we had no issues with the drip tip and found it comfortable to vape with, we do enjoy expressing our individuality with a flashy or custom drip tip from time to time and that's not possible with this model.
