Follow along our photo tutorial to learn basic operation of your new e-cig starter kit. The Aspire Nautilus Prime is quite simple to operate and the manufacturer has taken steps to "dummy proof" this model so that it's hard to go wrong and you can quickly master the basics.
After that, we'll show you how to customize your vaping experience to fine tune flavor, airflow and vapor temperature to your personal preferences. You'll be a pro in no time!
To begin, make sure your e-cig is switched on. The unit comes with a safety feature that allows you to turn it on or off so that you can disable it when you want to stow it in a purse or pocket. Click the large silver "fire" button five times in quick succession to turn the unit on or off.
To charge, plug the included charging cord into the charging port of the unit. The other end is a standard USB so you can charge your e-cig from any USB outlet. If you don't have a USB outlet, you can get a connector to the type of port you do have at most electronics shops or you can get a wall adapter that will enable you to plug the unit directly into a wall outlet if you prefer.
Next, make sure you have installed a coil. Your Aspire Nautilus Prime comes with two coils that look like this:
We recommend using the 0.7 ohm coil instead of the 1.8 ohm. You can easily tell which one is the 0.7 by looking for the turquoise ring at the base of one of the coils included in your starter kit.

Next, you want to make sure your tank is filled with e-juice. You can monitor the vape juice level left in your tank by looking at the window on the side of the tank. However, the glass window is tinted and it can be hard to see in low light so be sure to get in the habit of topping off regularly so you don't run dry.

To start vaping, just press the large silver "fire" button while you hold the e-cig to your lips and inhale. Since the unit will usually default to the highest wattage setting, you'll likely notice that the vapor is fairly warm. The temperature of the vapor is one of the things you can adjust by playing with the wattage setting.
For basic operation, you really don't need to understand anything about wattage, volts or ohms. All you need to know is that when you click the "up" button, it will increase the wattage resulting in more heat. More heat will increase the temperature of the vapor and will change the flavor. When you click the "down" button, the wattage will be lowered and your e-cig will operate at a lower temperature.
We'll walk you through how to play with the wattage button to customize your vaping experience below, but for now, just try clicking the buttons and see what you like. That's really all you need to know!
Once you find the wattage that you enjoy, you can lock the "up" and "down" wattage buttons to prevent further changes. To do so, press and hold the large silver "fire" button and the "up" wattage button at the same time. The OLED screen will display a lock icon to let you know the "up" and "down" buttons are locked. Just press and hold the same buttons again to unlock.
You may prefer to turn off the OLED screen display. This will save battery life and you may just find you dislike having the screen light up every time you take a vape, especially in low light.
To turn the screen off, just click the large silver "fire" button three times. The OLED display will turn off and the "up" and "down" wattage buttons will also be locked. Click the "fire" button again three times to turn the screen and wattage buttons back on.
Now that you are up and running, it's time to make some adjustments to tailor your vaping experience to your personal preferences.
How do you like your vape? Do you like it airy with an easy draw or do you prefer a little more resistance when you inhale? Do you prefer a warm vapor or would you rather not notice much of a temperature in the air passing through your throat? Do you like bold, intense flavor or do you prefer to dial it down a little and keep it subtle? Want to exhale giant clouds of vapor or do you like a more discreet or lady like puff?
If you're not sure of the answer to those questions, once you're ready to experiment with the Nautilus Prime you can soon find out!
Let's start with airflow. Toggle the airflow dial all the way to the left.
Now take a puff. You'll notice the draw is tight and you'll get a smaller inhale when you take a puff.
Now slide the airflow dial all the way to the right.
You'll notice that the draw is much less tight and you'll get a more airy vape as lots more air gets pulled through the unit, diluting the vapor.
Which setting you prefer is likely due to the way you vape. Some people will pull vapor into the mouth and hold it there before inhaling into the lungs. This is called mouth-to-lung vaping. It's a common style used by people who are or were traditional cigarette smokers.
Alternatively, some people inhale directly into the lungs without pausing to collect vapor in the mouth. This is known as direct-to-lung vaping and is more common among long time vapers.

Some people like a warmer vape whereas others find heated air uncomfortable to inhale. You can easily dial the temperature of the vapor up and down with this model. Just increase or decrease the wattage to adjust the temperature.
The OLED screen will display your current wattage, noting it with a number and then the letter "W." For example, 17W means that you are vaping at 17 watts. Check out the screen to get a sense of the wattage range that you enjoy.
Temperature also affects flavor strength so you may notices flavor changes as you play with temperature but we'll cover that next.
We love the ability to fine tune flavor that comes with this model. Every vape juice flavor is unique and will have its own particular "sweet spot," the heat level that makes it really shine. Likewise, every vaper will have personal preferences and what works for one person won't necessarily work for another. Some people like big, bold flavor while others find too much flavor to be bothersome.
To find your sweet spot for each flavor, adjust the wattage up and down. It works well to start with the wattage clicked all the way down to the lowest level. Then slowly adjust upward until you find the level that works best for you. This level is likely to be somewhat different for each vape juice flavor since each flavor has it's own unique profile.
Don't assume that more heat will necessarily equal more flavor, although that is often the case. Some flavors are more heat sensitive than others and will actually perform better at a lower wattage.
In addition, each flavor is made up of a variety of flavor molecules and those molecules each have their own individual heat sensitivity. Certain flavor notes will come forward more strongly at varying wattage levels so you may find that the flavor morphs or changes as you put a vape juice flavor through its paces.
The unit comes with both a 0.7 ohm coil or a 1.8 ohm coil. We prefer the 0.7 ohm as we find that it makes the flavor of our vape juices really shine. However, if you want to experiment, you can try the 1.8 ohm coil instead.
The e-cig will automatically detect the ohms rating of any coil you install and will set the voltage and wattage range of the unit accordingly to ensure you stay within safe vaping parameters.
When you select the 1.8 ohm coil, the unit adjusts to allow a wattage selection from 1.0 watts all the way up to 40 watts and will limit voltage according to your selection. When you install a 0.7 ohm coil, because the coil itself runs hotter, the unit will limit watts to between 1.0 and 25 watts.
We prefer the 0.7 ohm coil for best flavor when using this e-cig to vape Kai's Virgin Vapor ejuices but you may find you like the 1.8 ohm coil and your personal preference is all that matters.
